The 2025-26 Utica Eisenhower hockey season produced something that almost never happens at the high school level: three players on the same team each scoring 40 or more goals in a single season. Combined, the top line of Bode Farr, Joseph Zelenak, and Nathan Schilkey scored 133 goals — a figure that strains credibility until you watch the tape.
The Eagles finished 24-6, won the MAC Red conference title, and reached the D1 state semifinals for the first time since 2006. They lost 3-2 in overtime to Northville in a game that could have gone either way. It was one of the best seasons in Eisenhower hockey history and it ended one goal away from a state championship appearance.

The Top Line: A Once-in-a-Generation Trio
Nathan Schilkey
SENIOR · FORWARD
49 goals · 48 assists — 97 points. The team’s leading scorer and the engine of the offense. Schilkey’s combination of goal-scoring and playmaking made him one of the most complete forwards in Michigan D1 hockey this season. Graduated.
Bode Farr
SENIOR · FORWARD
43 goals · 46 assists — 89 points. The power and physical presence on the top line. Farr’s net-front game and shot created space for his linemates all season. Graduated.
Joseph Zelenak
SENIOR · FORWARD
41 goals · 58 assists — 99 points. The playmaker of the group with the most assists of any player on the roster. Zelenak’s vision and passing ability elevated everyone around him. Graduated.
The Semifinal Loss: 3-2 OT to Northville
Northville was the better team in regulation — barely. The Eagles battled to a 2-2 tie and forced overtime, giving themselves a chance to reach the state championship game. In overtime, Northville scored the winner and Eisenhower’s season ended. The 3-2 margin was not reflective of how close this game was or how good the Eagles were.
The Rebuild Question
All four of Eisenhower’s top scorers graduated. That is a massive departure by any measure — losing 133 goals from your top line and the assists of Zelenak and Farr in a single offseason is a genuine rebuilding challenge. The 2026-27 Eisenhower hockey program will look very different from the team that reached the Final Four.
The MAC Red title and the semifinal appearance establish a new standard for the program. Whether the underclassmen can maintain it without the top line is the defining question of next season. Eisenhower hockey has shown this year that it belongs in the conversation with Michigan’s D1 elite. The challenge now is staying there.
