Romulus Summit Academy North finished 26-2 and played in the MHSAA Division 2 state championship game. They lost to Warren Lincoln 58-51 in the final. By any reasonable standard that is an extraordinary season — and yet the way it ended will define what comes next for a program that is still in the early stages of establishing itself as a D2 power.
This is a program worth watching closely. The combination of veteran senior leadership and elite freshman talent that surfaced this season suggests Summit Academy North is not a one-year story. They are building something in Romulus.

12 points in the semifinal. A reliable contributor all season whose scoring punch gave Summit a two-headed threat alongside Fuller. Graduated.
Codey Bush

26 points in the state quarterfinal — as a freshman. Bush announced himself as a major future talent for this program with a breakthrough postseason performance. He returns for three more seasons and gives Summit Academy North a genuine building block.
The Championship Game: Warren Lincoln 58, Summit 51
Warren Lincoln entered the D2 final as back-to-back champions and they played like it. Summit kept it competitive throughout but Lincoln’s Markus Blackwell hit crucial free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the win. The 58-51 final was not a blowout — this was a game Summit had chances to win.
What’s Next
Fuller and White graduated. Bush returns. The program now has a D2 state final appearance on its resume — the kind of achievement that raises the program’s profile in recruiting, in the community, and in the eyes of opposing coaches. Summit Academy North should be a preseason top-10 D2 program next fall with Bush as the centerpiece and a full offseason to rebuild around him.
